WATER STORAGES DOWN 0.3%

While Melbourne’s water storages dropped around 0.3% (6,065 million litres) this week, to 36.5% (647,126 million litres) full today, the difference between levels for the same time last year and current levels continues to grow, with storages now holding almost 21 billion litres more water than at the same time last year, when they were 35.3% (626, 330 million litres) full.

Some rain fell across Melbourne’s four major catchments this week, with between 3.6mm at Maroondah Reservoir and 15.4mm at O’Shannassy.

Average consumption for the week was more than 330 million litres per day less than the summer daily average over the last five years, at 1070 million litres per day.

Stage 3a restrictions in place until June 30, 2008. Further details on water restrictions are available by visiting the Our Water Our Future website or by contacting the government water retailers.
