STORAGE LEVELS AT 36%

While falling 0.5% (9,177 million litres) for the week, Melbourne’s water storages are today around 21 billion litres higher than at the same time last year, at 36% (637,949 million litres) full. This time last year, levels were at 34.8% (616,535 million litres) full.

While rain in the last 24 hours gave parks and gardens around town a welcome drink, rainfall across the catchments for the week was not as substantial, with around just 1mm of rain recorded at each of the four major catchments except for the Thomson, which saw 5mm.

Some warmer weather over the weekend saw an increase in consumption for this week compared with last week, however average daily consumption was almost 200 million litres per day less than the summer daily average over the last five years.

Stage 3a restrictions in place until June 30, 2008. Further details on water restrictions are available by visiting the Our Water Our Future website or by contacting the government water retailers.
