STORAGE LEVELS 24 BILLION LITRES UP ON ‘07
Melbourne’s water storages are today 24 billion litres higher than at the same time last year, at 35.5% (630,193 million litres) full.
While between 6.6mm (Thomson) and 21.6mm (O’Shannassy) of rainfall was recorded across Melbourne’s four major catchments this week, storages fell 7,756 million litres (0.5%) through the week. At the same time last year, water storages were 34.2% (606,470 million litres) full.
Rainfall across town combined with continuing good water saving efforts, saw average daily water usage this week fall to more than 300 million litres below the summer daily average, at 1092 million litres.
