RAINFALL AND WATER SAVING KEEPS CONSUMPTION DOWN

Melbourne’s water storages for the week ending 3 April 2008 were 33.1% full (587,104 million litres).

The storages fell 6,679 million litres (0.38%) through the week. At the same time last year, water storages were 31.9% full (565,531 million litres).

That’s around 22 billion litres more water in storage than the same time last year.

The daily water usage for the week was 987 million litres, 18% (220 million litres) less than the five year autumn average of 1,207 million litres, and 3% (28 million litres) less than the same time last year.

Stage 3a restrictions remain in place until 30 June 2008. Further details on water restrictions are available by visiting the Our Water Our Future website or by contacting the government water retailers.
