A DRY WEEK FOR MELBOURNE’S CATCHMENTS

With rainfall across the catchments up to 95% below average for the week, Melbourne’s water storages failed to get a much needed boost and are now 32.7% full (579,724 million litres).

The storages fell 7,380 million litres (0.42%) through the week. At the same time last year, water storages were 31.5% full (557,924 million litres).

However with Melburnians continuing to use water wisely, our reservoirs have 22 billion litres more water in storage than the same time last year.

The daily water usage for the week was 1,074 million litres, 11% (133 million litres) less than the five year autumn average of 1,207 million litres.

Stage 3a restrictions remain in place until 30 June 2008. Further details on water restrictions are available by visiting the Our Water Our Future website or by contacting the government water retailers.
