Western Treatment Plant Land Use Strategy Referral to the Commonwealth Department of Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts (EPBC Reference 2008/4221)

Under Section 95A of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act 1999, Melbourne Water invites public comments relating to the planned implementation of its Land Use Strategy on agricultural land at the Western Treatment Plant at Werribee, Victoria.

Melbourne Water intends to undertake a phased land use conversion from exclusive livestock grazing to a diversified land use system that will incorporate cropping, grazing and wildlife conservation areas.

The Land Use Strategy is a Controlled Action under Part 3 of the EPBC Act 1999. Public comments are invited on Matters of National Environmental Significance including:

  • Wetlands of International Importance
  • Listed Threatened Species & Communities
  • Listed Migratory Species.

Hard copies of The Land Use Strategy Referral documentation may be viewed on business days from 26 October to 20 November 2009, between 8.30am and 5.00pm, at:
